Let me start by saying that I have never heard of this artist before, and I have absolutely no idea how the name is pronounced. That being said, I was going to pass on this one for those two basic reasons alone until I listened to the original track. As much as I wanted to hate on the name, her voice was awesome. So, I downloaded the vocals and gave it a go.
In my last post I started to talk about Sonar X1 Producer. Well, a Windows 8 upgrade and hours of glitch chasing later (did I say hours?, I meant days), and Sonar still isn't ready for production use. I had to resort to my old Acid Pro 7 + Reason 5 rewire combo to get this one finished. I'll get back to the Sonar training next week.
Every remix that I do, I focus on learning or improving on a new skill or two. For this one I focused on to things: adding more interesting fills and drum breaks, and refining my mastering skills. For the mastering I used Adobe's Audition. It has a nice set of mastering tools and I discovered that it does have a multiband compressor plug-in powered by iZotope.
If you like this remix, stop by my IndabaMusic.com profile to check out my others. Next, I'll start working on some originals to submit to a few opportunities and I also have another big remix project that I'm working on. I'm keeping that one a secret for now, but stay tuned for a couple of hints. Till next time. +200 thanks for reading bonus.
